Rooftop Roots
Rooftop Roots is a preschool room (ages 3-5) with 20 children and three full time teachers. We are also supported by the Penn State University students, senior volunteers and the wonderful families in our classroom. Our teachers come from a variety of backgrounds (Early Childhood Ed., Elementary Ed. and Montessori) and experiences that create a rich learning environment for the children in our room.
Our classroom offers a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities that cover the preschool early learning standards. We explore each letter of the alphabet individually with a focus on children’s authors. We also explore the letters in an order that encourages the children’s writing skills. Our teachers use the classroom, as well as, the surrounding campus and environment to teach the children stewardship and appreciation for nature.
