Laurie is a 2004 graduate of Rowan University with a background in Elementary Education and Psychology. She has been teaching in early childhood settings for more than a decade, and can't imagine doing anything else. In the classroom, her primary interest is embedding S.T.E.A.M. concepts into the curriculum. S.T.E.A.M. is the early childhood equivalent to S.T.E.M., with the addition of an A representing art. Process art experiences give children a developmentally appropriate method for learning problem-solving strategies, communication skills, and decision-making, all while promoting open-ended self-directed learning. In addition, she enjoys bringing sensory play and children's literature into the classroom.
