Emmalia graduated from Penn State with a degree in Media Studies and Political Science. She began her teaching career in Gainesville, Florida while attending graduate school at The University of Florida where she studied Media Literacy Curriculum K-12. Emmalia returned to State College, her hometown, after spending five years in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she worked for the public schools. Upon returning to State College, Emmalia received her Master's Degree in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum in Elementary Education from Drexel University. She spent five years as the lead fourth and fifth grade teacher at State College Friends School before taking a pre-k lead teaching position at a local daycare center, Childspace, which Emmalia now co-owns. Emmalia spent time as the director of Childspace along with serving as a teacher and mentor in their infant through pre-k programs. Emmalia lives in State College with her husband and four teenagers, including her son, a Freshman at Penn State! Emmalia enjoys cooking, kayaking, hiking the beautiful mountains of Pennsylvania and spending time with her family.
